S.I.P. Academic Enrichment Program
We are excited to invite faculty to participate in the S.I.P. Academic Enrichment Program! This initiative is designed to enhance student engagement through meaningful civic activities both on and off campus.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
Apply classroom concepts to real-world situations, deepening understanding and retention of course material.
Increase student and faculty participation in academic and extracurricular activities, promoting a more active and involved learning experience.
Develop practical experience and skills relevant to their field of study, such as leadership, teamwork, or research abilities.
Connect with student peers, faculty, the community, and professionals through involvement in various activities, fostering valuable relationships and networking opportunities.
FACULTY PARTICIPATION STEPS
Step 1. Fill out the faculty registration form with your details, including your name, campus, courses you teach, and contact information.
Step 2. Inform your students about the extra credit opportunities, including how they can participate, any relevant deadlines, and how the extra credit will be applied to their grades.
Note: You will receive a monthly list of all events eligible for extra credit, along with a weekly reminder to keep you and your students informed.
Step 3: Track student participation and progress in the extra credit activities/events. All faculty members who register for the S.I.P. Academic Enrichment Program will gain access to the sign-in roster for all events, allowing them to allocate extra credit to their student participants.
Note: To qualify for extra credit, students must attend and participate in the entire event.
Step 4: Provide feedback at the end of the semester on how we can improve our S.I.P. Academic Enrichment Program.
FALL 2024 Opportunities include:
Phone Banking and Text Banking: Reach out to voters to share information and encourage participation in the upcoming November election.
Canvassing: Engage with the community in person to discuss key issues and promote voter turnout.
Union Solidarity Actions: Support and participate in union-led events advocating for workers’ rights.
Mental Health Awareness Hikes: Join hikes focused on mental health awareness and well-being.
Day of Politics at Trade Tech and Pierce College: Attend events at these colleges to learn about and discuss political issues and AFT 1521 endorsed candidates.
Voter Registration: Assist with registering new voters.
Voting Action Plans: Help voters create personalized plans to ensure they participate in the election/GOTV.
Candidate and Proposition Education: Learn about and teach others about candidates and ballot propositions.
March in March Committees: Participate in the March In March committees to support the various causes.
